Book 1

14 For bards make offerings which give no smoke.
14 The ancients had a word, μονοφαγεῖν, applied to those who eat alone. And so Antiphanes says:—
14 But if you sulk, μονοφαγῶν,
14 Why must I, too, eat alone?
14 And Ameipsias says:—
14 And if she's a μονοφάγος, plague take her,
14 I'd guard against her as a base housebreaker.
