124 Alc. Clearly that which is the aim of good men.
124 Soc. Good in what?
124 Alc. Clearly, good in the management of affairs.
124 Soc. What sort of affairs? Horsemanship?
124 Alc. No, no.
124 Soc. Because we should apply to horsemen?
124 Alc. Yes.
124 Soc. Well, seamanship, do you mean?
124 Alc. No.
124 Soc. Because we should apply to seamen?
124 Alc. Yes.
124 Soc. Well, what sort of thing? The business of what men?
124 Alc. Of Athenian gentlemen.
125 Soc. Do you mean by gentlemen the intelligent or the unintelligent?
125 Alc. The intelligent.
125 Soc. And everyone is good in that wherein he is intelligent?
125 Alc. Yes.
125 Soc. And bad wherein he is unintelligent?
125 Alc. Of course.
125 Soc. Then is the shoemaker intelligent in the making of foot-gear?
125 Alc. Certainly.
125 Soc. So he is good in that article?
125 Alc. Good.
125 Soc. Well now, is not the shoemaker unintelligent in the making of clothes?
125 Alc. Yes.
125 Soc. So he is bad in that?
125 Alc. Yes.
